We are seeking an experienced Senior Transportation Manager to oversee and optimize our global freight operations, with a strong emphasis on international logistics, ocean and air freight, and cross-border transportation. Given our heavy presence in Mexico, the ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Mexico trade lanes, customs compliance, and carrier management.

The Transportation Manager will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to ensure cost-effective, reliable, and compliant transportation across our global supply chain. This role requires strong analytical skills, carrier negotiation experience, and knowledge of global trade regulations to drive efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining high service levels.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Global Freight & Logistics Management

  • Oversee and optimize global freight operations across ocean, air, and ground transportation.
  • Develop and execute RFQ strategies to optimize costs, improve service levels, and strengthen supplier relationships.
  • Develop cost-effective international shipping solutions that align with business needs.
  • Manage relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and third-party logistics providers (3PLs).
  • Ensure smooth cross-border operations, with a strong focus on the Mexico-U.S. trade lane.

International Trade & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations, trade agreements (e.g., USMCA), and import/export documentation requirements.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders (e.g., customs compliance, procurement) to mitigate trade risks and optimize duty savings.
  • Stay updated on global trade laws and implement best practices for international shipments.

Operational & Cost Optimization

  • Negotiate freight contracts and service agreements to drive cost savings and improve service levels.
  • Develop KPIs to track carrier performance, transit times, and freight cost efficiency.
  • Knowledge of transportation management system (TMS) best practices for improved visibility and control over shipments.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, warehouses, and production teams to align transportation strategies with business goals.
  • Assess the current transportation network and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and support business growth.

 

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in global transportation and logistics management, preferably in a manufacturing or supply chain environment, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong expertise in international freight (ocean & air), cross-border transportation, and Mexico trade lanes.
  • Experience managing freight contracts, carrier negotiations, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Deep knowledge of customs regulations, import/export compliance, and trade agreements (e.g., USMCA, WTO, INCOTERMS).
  • Proficiency in Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and ERP systems.
  • Proven problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and drive results in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus but not required.
