    This position, reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, will be responsible for managing activities related to the design, construction, and validation of component tooling for our Milwaukee operations.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, safety, quality, personnel, assets, inventory, scheduling, and the production of all new tools and tooling components originating in the department.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.


    Manage Advance Tooling Technology Center,

    Manage production intent tool and gage design group (Mold & Stamping),

    Manage mold tool repair for Die Cast production

    Manage component layout and compliance process

    Manage gage validation and calibration process

    Develop and manage vendor base

    Teach intelligent design techniques, using the latest technology

    Provide insight to enhance manufacturability of components

    Provide insight into make versus buy decisions for Milwaukee operations

    Schedule workload, training of subordinates and utilization of technology



    Directly supervise associates in tooling/gage design group. Manage tooling employees and supervisors over 3 shifts.  Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees: planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Technology Related Field or equivalent. 
    • Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar tooling / tool room leadership position. 
    • Experience leading Kaizen and 5s implementations preferred. 
    • Previous responsibility for identifying and maintaining Key Performance Indicators.
    • Tooling Manager will be required to utilize Microsoft office products as well as other Strattec-specific software programs.
    • Prior Die Cast and Metal Stamping experience strongly preferred.
    • Experience working with a union workforce strongly preferred
