Responsibilities

Under minimal supervision, manage the CNC programming group and complete specified tasks related to the advancement of manufacturing processes related to building and repairing tooling and prototype components.

 

Includes the following as well as other duties as assigned:

 

  • Manage the CNC programming group, including establishing goals and objectives, conducting performance appraisals, establishing work priorities, assigning tasks and projects, recording time and attendance, and other managerial tasks as needed.
  • Investigate new technologies, equipment, software and techniques, to further increase productivity in the tool building processes.
  • Train and mentor CNC programmers, ATTeC personnel and machinists with the latest techniques and procedures used in the tool making process.
  • Prepare proposals and write justifications for the purchase of new equipment.
  • Work with Tool designers, programmers, ATTeC personnel, machinists and outside vendors to help coordinate the manufacture of tooling and prototype components.
  • Work with product designers, product engineers and tooling designers to enhance product designs for manufacturability and reduced overall tooling costs.
  • Participate in product and tooling design reviews.
  • Act as consultant on designs and programs created by others.
  • Work with tool designers and programmers to develop departmental standard practices.
  • Understand and adhere to company and departmental policies, procedures and standard practices while carrying out the duties of the job.
  • Understand and adhere to STRATTEC quality policy and procedures while carrying out the duties of the job.

Qualifications

Requirements:

 

  • Minimum of an Associate's degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school.
  • Prior Team Leadership/Management experience preferred.
  • Minimun of 5 years Tool & Die work experience required.  Prior experience with the design and construction of Die Casting tooling and progressive stamping dies strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Project.
  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAM softwares commonly used for tool design and CNC programming.
  • Preferred experience with Pro-ENGINEER, Pro-MANUFACTURE, and Autocad.
