Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES .

  • Learn on the job experience on the various computer applications used, their capabilities and their use, through the means of self-paced tutorials and every day real world experiences.
  • First level general Helpdesk support for End-Users focusing on proper operation of computer hardware and applications; Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Groupwise email, Internet browsers and others.
  • Provide user hardware support for workstation, printer, and plotter issues.
  • Assist with computer system imaging using standardized desktop management tools.
  • Assist with backup and archive operations.
  • Continued development into a strong and effective team player while working with a geographically distributed support team.
  • Ensure documentation standards are created and adhered to.
  • Participate in projects and testing as required.
  • Research, troubleshoot, and resolve issues reported via Helpdesk.
  • Ability to track and close tickets in the Helpdesk queue.
  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications

 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

-At minimum, a High School diploma and in the process of obtaining either a four year bachelor’s degree, Sophomore standing. an Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school in Engineering, Information Technology or Computer Science.

-This is a year round internship and the right candidate must be available to work during the school year and during the summer break.

                                                                               

 

DESIRED COMPUTER SKILLS          

  • Novice computer skills with a minimum of “basic-to-moderate” skills in the operation of computer hardware and software; including but not limited to MS-Office, Internet Explorer/Chrome/FireFox, e-mail, and more.
  • Primary operating system knowledge of Windows is required. Additionally, basic knowledge/skills with UNIX/Linux operating systems is a plus.
  • Conceptual understanding of basic networking and network protocols such as TCP/IP, RDP, TELNET, FTP.
  • Conceptual understanding of basic wired and wireless networking.
  • Aptitude for learning quickly and a strong desire to become a computer support expert.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills a must.
  • General computer experience at home supporting friends and family a plus.
